Sh700 million level four Hospital to be established in Kuria-Migori
Migori County will soon have a second level four hospital facility after the groundbreaking ceremony of a new five-floor Kegonga Hospital in Kuria East Sub-County.
Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who presided over the ceremony at the Kegonga Sub-County Hospital, acknowledged that the 300-bed capacity project will be a significant step in advancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring better medical services for Kuria residents.
The project, which the Ministry of Health funds, will represent a significant step forward in improving health access in Migori.
Ochilo applauded the efforts and expressed his gratitude to the Kuria East Member of Parliament Kitayama Maisori for his tireless lobbying efforts to ensure that his constituency receives developmental projects.
The governor said he will continue to engage with the national government to strengthen healthcare delivery by investing in modern facilities and expanding access to quality medical care.
"Once completed the project will greatly enhance service provision, reduce patient congestion, and improve health care outcomes in the region," Ochilo noted.
He disclosed that his administration is committed to providing exceptional healthcare services by employing qualified specialists and practitioners.
In December 2024, the county employed eighty medics to help improve service delivery across the 167 healthcare facilities in the county.
"As we move forward, we will ensure the hospital is fully equipped and staffed to provide better service delivery to our county residents," Ochilo explained.
Kuria East Member of Parliament Kitayama Maisori said it is only through good governance and collaboration with both levels of government that a socio-economic transformative agenda can be realised.
